9月27日(水)、新しいALT(ケヴィン先生)が朝倉高校に着任され、リモート配信で全校生徒に紹介をしました。 以下、ケヴィン先生の自己紹介文です。
Hello! My name is Kevin Akio Stewart and I am from California. I've been living in California since 1998, however I am not originally from California. I moved a lot as a child because my father was in the military. I spent most of my childhood growing up at Yokota Air Force Base in Tachikawa, near Tokyo. My father is American, and from Illinois. My mother is Japanese, from Nikko.
I went to the University of Kansas and then transferred to Humboldt State University to study biology because of their famed natural resource program. I have both a Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology and Environmental Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Flute Performance, both from Humboldt State University. I love Humboldt County in California!! I love the redwoods and the temperate rainforest environment on the coast. It's breathtakingly beautiful there!
My interests include music performance, hiking, backpacking, and travel. I love hiking, exploring, and swimming in backcountry alpine lakes and rivers! When I'm in town, I love playing music. My favorite is orchestral and chamber music. I play both the flute and the bassoon. I taught high school music in Humboldt, San Joaquin, and Sonoma counties in California. I most recently taught band, orchestra, and jazz band at Analy High School in Sebastopol, in Sonoma County. I have a passion for education as a way to access and connect the peoples of the world. As I am cross cultural in my background, I have a deep love for connecting people of different cultures/perspectives together. Language access as a means of communicating and sharing our passions and inspirations is my main motivator for my time in Japan now. I hope to deepen my roots here in Japan, learn to communicate fully in Japanese, help you to communicate in English, and share lots of experiences and make memories with all of you, my new community here in Asakura High School!
